Tuna steaks with Asian marinade

The other day I went to a farmers market in a small town near mine, I had a lot of fun walking around between the little stalls and booths. I ended up buying a lot more than I had planned on, but everything was so fresh and looked beyond delicious so naturally, I had to buy something everywhere!
The town with the market is called Køge and it’s a harbor town so there were also a few stalls selling fresh fish and seafood, and I was tempted, I bought some fresh tuna steaks among a bunch of other things 😉
The weather is nice and summery so I decided to grill them, and I wanted to make an Asian inspired marinade – It turned out a lot better than I expected so I decided to share it with you, I hope you like it!

  • Tuna steaks (This marinade was enough for 3 steaks)
  • 2 dl (6.7 liquid ounces) of soy sauce
  • 4-5 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 4 tsp of ground ginger
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 3-4 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 2-3 tsp of chili flakes

  • Pour the soy sauce into a big measuring pot or cup

    • It doesn’t have to be a measuring pot but I recommend something tall rather than a bowl because it makes it easier to cover all the steaks with less marinade
  • Chop the garlic
  • Add the rest of the ingredients (except the tuna) to the soy sauce and mix well
  • Taste and add a little more of some of the ingredients if needed so it’s to your liking
  • Put the tuna in the marinade and leave it for around 30 minutes
  • Grill the tuna steaks two minutes on each side at 250ºC (480ºF)
  • Enjoy!!
    • It works really well with some salad and bread 🙂

So this was my Asian marinade recipe! I hope you like it, I’d love to hear from you 🙂
Lots of love, Anne
