Your guide to the perfect mascara

So over the past days, I’ve been testing mascaras because I’ve wanted to this post for a while! I’ve spent years looking for the perfect mascara for me and over the years I’ve bought countless different ones only to come home, try it out and realize that this mascara was soooo wrong for me and my eyes. So now I’ve put together a guide showing you the different pros and cons of each mascara.
I have not done this post in a way where I put them as number 1, 2, 3 and so on, because I realize that your list might look different, but I have given each mascara a rating.

Volume Million Lashes – L’Oréal:

  • Price: 8$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
  • I think this is a really good mascara, especially for the price! It isn’t very dramatic so I’d never use it for a night out, but for work or day to day life, I think it’s perfect. It gives my blonde lashes a good covering, adds good length, and gives some volume. It did however clumb my lashes together a bit and I don’t really like that.
It did, however, last really well! I wore it to work and when I came home after 8 hours it looked basically the same, which I loved.

The Falsies Push Up Drama – Maybelline:

  • Price: 11.8$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥
  • This mascara is very wrong for me, but it does do what it promises which is to add some drama and push-up your lashes. Unfortunately, I think that it feels very heavier and so even though it does add some push-up effect, I feel like it also weighs down my lashes and it clumps my lashes together way too much. I wouldn’t use this for work, it just seems too over the top, but it also doesn’t really work for a night out I think, because after a couple of hours it really made me look tired and it didn’t last well, it kind of started to look kind of flakey.

Big Eyes, Rebel Black – Maybelline:

  • Price: 11$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
  • So this gets a 5-star rating from me because it gave me volume, color, and length. I love the fact that there is both a mascara for upper lashes and lower lashes, I tried both of them on my upper lashes.
The one for the lower lashes is perfect for a day where you want a no makeup, makeup look, it gives good color and a little length but no volume.
The mascara for upper lashes did give good volume, color, and length. It also only clumped my lashes slightly together and the lower lash mascara was perfect for fixing this! I ran the brush through my lashes twice and it really separated them nicely.

Volume Million Lashes, So Couture So Black – L’Oréal:

  • Price: 12$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
  • This gets a 5-star rating from me because it was subtle enough to use for work and I was also able to build it up to be dramatic enough for a night out. It didn’t clump my lashes together at all and it added great color, length, volume, and push-up effect! It also lasted really, really well, I wore this for a full day of work and out to eat at night so probably around 15-16 hours and it still looked really good.
It framed my eyes beautifully and made them seem a little bigger as well, this was definitely my favorite mascara out of all the ones I tried!!

Volume Million Lashes, Excess – L’Oréal:

  • Price: 11$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
  • This is a pretty good mascara especially considering the price, but compared to the “So Couture So Black” version, this did give me slightly clumpy lashes, it also felt a bit heavy, and it didn’t last as well as I would have liked, after a couple of hours I did start to notice residue under my eyes.
It did, however, give me nice volume and length, it also pushed up my lashes nicely!

Scandaleyes – Rimmel:

  • Price: 6$
  • Rating: ♥
  • So this was cheap, which I guess should have given me a clue that it wasn’t going to be that good, but I didn’t like this mascara at all!
It made my lashes clumpy, sticky, heavy and it didn’t really add any length…
I don’t know how well this lasted, because I couldn’t even stand wearing it, so I took it off immediately and put on another one.

Hypnôse – Lancome:

  • Price: 30$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
  • This was definitely a great mascara! It gave great color and length, but not as much volume as I would have liked and expected, it did last really well, I wore it all day and it still looked fresh. The price though was a minus for me since I don’t think it was worth quite that much, especially after having tried the “So Couture So Black” which was less than half of this one.

The Max Volume Flash – Rimmel:

  • Price: 7.50$
  • Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
  • This was actually a pretty good mascara, and I was surprised at how much I liked it, which I didn’t expect to when I looked at the brush. It gave good volume and length, but it was way too clumpy for me and after a couple of hours it also felt like it was getting a little heavy, but it did last really well!

So this was my mascara guide. I hope you enjoyed it and that you maybe even found it helpful!
What is your favorite mascara? Is there any that I should try which is not on this list?
Lots of love, Anne
